Our History

ARose is Still a Rose! (Aretha Franklin)

Resilient Soil is built on faith, strength, and resilience. Resilient Soil is founded on a vision from the Lord while a woman was in the wilderness, full of labor pangs. As she suffered through many traumas, illnesses, pains, failures, loss, abandonment, rejection, segregation, isolation, let-downs, and deceit, she pressed through even though the odds were against her. However, even with all this loss and long suffering, she remembered the one thing and the best thing she had was her trinity (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

This built resilience in her, God's resilience. While she and her mother were on the phone, her mother said, “You sure are tough.” Her response while crying was, “We are tough”. Her mother went on to say, “The Smith girls are tough”. Kahileelah had a light bulb moment, and the Holy Spirit provided the word resilience. The fact that God had grace, mercy, and favor over her life, a life she thought she could not make it through from all God allowed her to overcome, she should have been dead, or mentally and emotionally unstable, yet God gave her the resilience she needed to stand on tough, resilient ground, pushing through life's challenges and sufferings. Then the Holy Spirit brought to her "The Parable of the Sower". This ignited a desire in her to give back by planting seeds of resilience in young girls and women so they too can be “planted” in, “rooted” in, and “standing” on resilient soil, reaping a full harvest, overcoming their long-suffering trials and tribulations.

She said to her mom, “I wonder how I could turn this into a book”, but little did she know God had something bigger than a title of a book. The experiences Kahileelah pushed through seeking the Lord at a higher level with purpose and intent shaped her into her spiritual purpose. The more she sat with God, the more God revealed his mission for her life. Taking God given confidence, obedience, quietness, stillness, healing, forgiveness, humiliation, and meekness, built the ability to overcome challenges in dark and in light, pushing her to yield to her assignment and bear, pick up, and carry her cross following Jesus to help other girls and women to do the same.

Resilient Soil came from pain, but that pain forced Kahileelah Houck to seek ye first the kingdom of the Lord and all his righteousness, and all his promises started to be added to her. Matthew 6:33 KJV. Kahileelah walks by faith and not by sight and believes all is obtainable, living by Luke 1:45 “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. KJV.

Resilient Soil came from Kahileelah’s God given resilience and endowment that gave her the ability to successfully transform and modify to her stressors, while leaning not unto her “own” understanding, taking issues to the Lord in prayer, the Holy Spirt gave her the ability to maintain her psychological well-being in the face of many trials and tribulations. Her ability to “bounce back” from difficult experiences with her father above is the epitome of her resilience.

Kahileelah prayed to God, fasted, and waited for her steps to be ordered. God began revealing her true calling and ministry to serve girls and women in “multiple” areas in Jesus’ name and for God’s glory. She suffered many things as a woman so she could serve in multiple areas, laying her life down for women and mankind. Why? Because she can, and so can you, do all things through Christ, which strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)! These things with the Trinity birthed Resilient Soil.
